Pinnacle Motorsport is back in China to resume title hunt in Formula Masters Series

When Pinnacle Motorsport visited the Zhuhai International Circuit last month, it yielded them a podium finish, a race win, and a shot at the Formula Masters Series’ (FMS) championship. This week, they’re back at the 4.3 km track in China with hopes to repeat their success and chase for more race wins.

The team will run a smaller 2-car lineup this weekend as Antolin Gonzalez decides to sit this one out. This leaves Taylor Cockerton and Ben Grimes to fly the team colors in Race 12, 13, and 14.

It was very cold and wet last time these guys were here. Still, they managed to get good results in tricky conditions. In stark contrast, the weather is expected to be hot and humid on Saturday and Sunday, so Pinnacle Motorsport has high hopes of doing even better.

As it stands, Taylor is 2nd in the Drivers’ Classification and obviously the New Zealander will be aiming to close the gap in China. Ben Grimes, on the other hand, will continue his search for a maiden podium finish and improve on his 9th spot in the championship. The Filipino-British driver is improving at every event, so a race 2nd or 3rd place finish is definitely possible.

Accompanying Pinnacle Motorsport on their FMS campaign are partners Cebu Pacific Air, Teng Tools, and P1 Racewear.

Taylor Cockerton: “Great to be back in China and really exited for the next round of Formula Masters this weekend. We’ll be aiming to carry the momentum from last round at Zhuhai and target to win once again. The weather is looking much better than last time here, so hopefully we will get some exciting dry racing.”

Ben Grimes: “I’m looking forward to driving at Zhuhai again. The track has lots of overtaking opportunities and the racing is always pretty close there. Last time I had the pace for a podium in the dry so hoping to get more good results and hopefully a few podiums.”
