Honda Ph expands airbag recall to cover '01 – '15 City, Jazz, Civic, CR-V

This just never seems to end. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has issued yet another “voluntary safety recall” to cover the defective airbag inflators made by Takata. But the new announcement now includes several models, sold over a 15-year period, that when summed up possibly affects more than 199,000 vehicles in the country.

On the list are select units of the City, Jazz, Civic, CR-V, Accord, and Pilot bought from 2001 to 2015. Owners of these vehicles will have to schedule a visit at their nearest Honda dealership. It’ll then take them about one (1) hour to inspect and/or replace the driver side airbag as a proactive and precautionary measure. On the bright side, the voluntary safety recall is FREE OF CHARGE for the customer.

“We encourage everyone, if you have a friend and family member who owns a Honda vehicle, we urge you to call our hotline numbers or check our website to check if their vehicle is affected. You must take action now,” stressed Noriyuki Takakura, HCPI President and General Manager.

Do note that not all models mentioned are part of the recall. To check if your Honda vehicle is affected, visit hondaphil.com/services/vin-search/, then enter the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to verify.

If it pops up, then you’ll know that your Honda needs a visit to the dealership.
