The beauty of eSports is that it doesn’t need a single drop of fuel to run its races, making it a ‘green’ alternative to real-world motorsports. But that didn’t stop oil industry leader Petron Corporation from supporting Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) sim racing series – the GR GT Cup.
While they do realize the irony in all of this, they still believe that the “country’s best gasoline” is still a perfect match for the online event. The high octane performance and excellent engine cleaning capability of Petron Blaze 100 suits the GR GT Cup Philippines’ mission to bring the “waku-doki” excitement to Filipino motorsport enthusiasts. On top of this, their sponsorships supports the grassroots motorsports initiative of TMP.
Petron asserts that not only is it the only 100-octane gasoline in the Philippines, but is also the first premium plus gasoline that meets the Philippine and European fuel quality standards and certified to be Euro 6-compliant.
Up to P1-million worth of prizes are at stake in the Toyota GR GT Cup Philippines. Winners get to bring home gears and gadgets such as tablets, gaming chairs, gaming monitors, smart home devices, and portable action cameras. The overall National Finals champion, on the other hand, walks away with a cash prize plus a brand new Sony PlayStation 5.
Race 3 of the 2021 Toyota GR GT Cup Philippines is scheduled on the 18th/19th of June with the National Finals on the 26th June. Watch the races on livestream via Toyota Motor Philippines’ Facebook page.
