Why the Gumball 3000 is the world's maddest public road rally

Drive all day. Party all night. That is the motto of the Gumball 3000. And on its 19th year, 150 exotics went on a 3,000 mile (4,828 km) trip that took them through Riga, Warsaw, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Tirana, Athens, before making its final stop in Mykonos.

This is by far the world’s maddest public road rally.

In here, there’s no shortage of Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, McLaren’s, Porsche’s, Bentley’s, and Aston Martin’s. There are also some oddballs like the Mercedes-Benz Actros Truck and the ultra-rare Lancia Martini 037 Group B rally car. These exotics and their wealthy owners then drive for about 500 miles (804 km) each day, stop at the next checkpoint, party ’til the sun goes back up, and repeat the cycle all over again.

Sadly for us, this ‘rally’ is for billionaires only. But custom car culture magazine Motorhead managed to get an inside look at the ‘Gumball 3000: 2017 Riga to Mykonos’ to show us mere mortals what we’re missing out on.
