While the rest of us make the most out of our 3-year / 100,000 km factory warranty (whichever comes first), Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) is offering their customers something more. Something no one has ever done in the country. Something we could only dream of.
What we’re talking about is their new 5-Year, Unlimited Mileage warranty that comes with all brand new Hyundai vehicles starting December 1, 2015. This is an effort to improve brand confidence, brand value, and the overall ownership experience.
Under the new warranty program, electronics, components related to electrical systems, powertrain, DCT (dual clutch transmission), and body and paint are all covered for 5 years no matter what distance the vehicle travels. But do note that the coverage does have strict guidelines. The owner has to follow the Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) schedule, only use genuine Hyundai parts, and adheres to the provisions of the warranty program.
As for other components, the battery is covered 2 years / 40,000 km, the audio system 2 years / 50,000 km, and the suspension system for 5 years / 100,000 km. Parts warranty coverage is also included for 1 year / 20,000 km.
Just of how much money you can save on the 4th and 5th year of ownership.
Now, this is not the first time for HARI to pull such a bold move. They first started offering a 5-year warranty back in 2007, but that had a 100,000 km limit. Obviously, they’re now so confident that their vehicles will last a full 5 years no matter how far it drives that they’ve ditched the mileage cap altogether.
