If you’re in Baguio anytime now ’til the 26th of November 2017, please do drop by the Bencab Museum. They have a special ‘Fuel Creativity Exhibit’ that displays some of the best works from Vision Petron’s National Student Art Competition.
The said ‘competition’ has become a venue for expression. It covers diverse themes such as social issues, culture, and the environment, through different mediums such as paint, photography, t-shirt design, video, and music. It is held annually for 17 years straight. And for the month-long retrospective painting exhibit, they’ve selected grand prize winners from over the years to be put on show.
Vision Petron describes the Fuel Creativity Exhibit as “showcases the best works of budding Filipino artists from the turn of the millennium, when the competition was first introduced, and reflects the changing themes that embody the best of Filipino values, culture, and heritage.”
Benedicto Cabrera, or Bencab as he’s better known, is a National Artist for the Visual Arts and a member of the Vision Petron board of judges. Notably, Bencab also happens to be a multi-awarded winner of art competitions when he was still a struggling young artist. This makes him the perfect role model for the talented Filipino students who submit entries to Vision Petron’s art competition.
On the Fuel Creativity Exhibit, Bencab remarked, “The collection highlights the artists’ emerging styles, individual methods of self-expression, and search for identity.”
The Vision Petron Fuel Creativity Exhibit will be at the Indigo Gallery of the Bencab Museum from October 14 to November 26, 2017. It is located at Km. 6 Asin Road, Tuba, Metro Baguio.
