The Philippine-based Cebu Pacific Air by PRT had the best debut any team could have wished for, scoring 2 pole positions and 3 wins at the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS) season opener in Shanghai. Now, they’re hoping to repeat the feat as they head to the Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend with an addition to their driver lineup.
Joining Nicholas Rowe and Kim Jeong Tae this June 18/19 is Thomas Swift from Hong Kong.
UPDATE: The team announced that Rowe is unwell and won’t be able to race this weekend. Filling in for his seat is Jeffrey Ye who raced with the team in the previous event.
The 17-year-old driver started karting in 2011 before switching to single seaters in 2014. He managed several podium positions in Asian Formula Renault last year and will join Cebu Pacific Air by PRT to pilot the team’s third car around the 4.3 km circuit.
As for Rowe, he now leads the Drivers’ Championship with his 2 race wins in Shanghai and hopes for a repeat. Meanwhile, Kim Jeong Tae holds onto 3rd place and is looking forward to add to his collection of trophies.
This gives Cebu Pacific Air by PRT a points advantage in the Team Classification as it heads to the Formula Masters’ 2nd event.
Accompanying Cebu Pacific Air by PRT on their FMCS campaign are partners Cebu Pacific Air, Teng Tools, and P1 Racewear.
Kim Jeong Tae: “Scoring my very first victory in Formula Masters last month gave me a big confidence boost to do even better. I will give my best in Zhuhai and aim for podium finishes.”
Thomas Swift: “I am very excited to enter Formula Masters with one of the best teams on the grid. This is a great opportunity for me to learn from their talented driver coaches and engineers, giving me the right tools to progress in my motorsport career.”
