In search of champions of the future, the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) will be traveling to Cebu and Bacolod this July to hold modules of their Motorsport Development Program (MSDP).
It’s open to young drivers aged 16 to 19 years old and is ‘fully subsidized’ by the program.
Module 1 covers the basics of ‘Race Skills’ while Module 2 and 3 tackles ‘The Racing Mind’ and ‘Race Safe’. All include a classroom lecture and hands-on practicals that lasts 2 days. Cebu residents can sign up for Module 1 scheduled on July 2/3 at Kartzone in Mabolo. Meanwhile, Modules 1, 2, and 3 will be offered in Bacolod on July 16/17 at the BREDCO port.
Done in partnership with the Federation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA), the grassroots training platform is designed specifically for young drivers who want to enter motorsports. Young male and female students get to hone their skill and discipline for the sport. All this is done under the watchful eye of 10-time National Rally Champion Vip Isada and his team.
Graduates will then receive a scholarship from the MSDP to help them achieve their dream of becoming future race car drivers.
Those who wish to participate must be physically fit and posses a champion’s attitude. Of course, you also need to have a valid Philippine Driver’s License and a Letter of Consent from your parent/guardian to join. The organizers strongly advise that participants bring along their dads so they too can undergo training and proper guidance.
If you’re already 20 years old and above, you can still join with a fee of P2,000.
