Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto and Access Plus Racing are ready to fight when the Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) returns to the Clark International Speedway (CIS) this weekend. Last time around, he went on to win both races to extend his lead to 14 points, which he aims to repeat this August ¾.
The 4.189 km track has always been the team’s strongest suite. Access Plus Racing spends a lot of time in testing and training here, which translates into their exceptional performance come race day. TJ also has made a habit out of setting official track records at CIS, which he again shattered during Round 3 last month with a 1:48.407 lap.
Unfortunately, despite having full confidence to defend his PSBK title, the older Alberto will have to fly the team’s colors solo once again. That’s because Troy Alberto is still on the road to recovery after suffering a fractured vertebrae from a crash during Round 2 at BRC. Despite his injury, his younger brother has always present on track to help the team – contributing his knowledge wherever possible such as improving bike setup and race strategy.
The team wishes Troy Alberto a quick recovery and looks forward to see him back on the bike soon.
TJ Alberto and his #77 Ducati Panigale V4 will continue the hunt for a 4th consecutive PSBK overall title this weekend. Qualifying takes place on Saturday (August 3) with both Races happening on Sunday (August 4).
TJ Alberto, #77: “We’re heading into another race weekend at Clark International Speedway. It’s no secret that this is pretty much my home track. I often train at this circuit and it shows in our performance here last time out. The weather remains to be a big question mark as there’s a high chance of wet weather for the weekend. No worries, we will fight for the win regardless.”
Toti Alberto, Team Principal: “With Troy still out, we have to focus all our efforts on TJ. But the good part is that TJ is consistent and fast, especially here at Clark. With a 14 points lead, he just has to play the game and hope to have a safe, clean race this weekend. Also looking forward to see Troy back on track as early as the next round.”
