13-car entry list confirmed for inaugural GiTi-Formula V1 Challenge 2018

On its 20th year anniversary, Tuason Racing School (TRS) is all set to launch the next step in the Philippine motorsports ladder. This is the Giti-Formula V1 Challenge 2018 and it’ll stage its first event at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) this May 12/13.

Presented by Giti Tires, 13 drivers in 8 teams have confirmed their entries so far. The grid will be comprised of seasoned and up-and-coming superstars who have graduated from other series’. At least 7 of them will race the Philippine flag, while the rest represent countries such as Australia, Finland, Japan, and Indonesia. Names to watch out include ex-Formula 3 driver Tyson Sy, 2014 Vios Cup Champion Luis Gono, and Stefan Ramirez who’ll fly the family colors of Scuderia Ramirez De Arellano.

The race weekend begins on Saturday (May 12) with Free Practice, but Qualifying, Race 1, and Race 2 are all happening on Sunday (May 13).

The inaugural Giti-Formula V1 Challenge 2018 features a total of 4 events that kicks off at BRC this weekend. It’ll then move to the Clark International Speedway (CIS) for Rounds 2 and 3 this August and October. Finally, the season ender will take place later in November with a 4-Hour Endurance challenge.

Whoever takes the overall title this year will then win a drive to race with West Race Cars Japan at Fuji Speedway.
