Back from the holiday break, our friends from Pinnacle Racing Team (PRT Racing) have an early start to the year as they prepare for their very first race of 2017. They’re in Thailand this weekend for the 4 Hours of Buriram which happens to be Round 3 of the Asian Le Mans Endurance Series.
As always, these guys will run their #67 Pinbet88-sponsored Ginetta LMP3 prototype. But there will be a few firsts for PRT Racing. This will be the team’s first time to compete with a smaller 2 driver line-up in the Endurance Series. Ate De Jong and Charlie Robertson now need to split the full 4-hours between them since Martin Rump, who was the team’s third driver in Zhuhai and Fuji, won’t be available to lend a helping hand.
Both drivers have also never driven the 4.554 km Chang International Circuit (or that’s what we’ve been told). That leaves Ate and Charlie with Free Practice, Qualifying, and any other unofficial sessions to learn the new track.
Despite these challenges, PRT Racing is quite confident that they can get good results in Thailand.
Good luck, guys.
The 4 Hours of Buriram will start at exactly 12:15 PM local time (+7:00 GMT) on Sunday where 27 entries are expected to line up on the starting grid.
Accompanying PRT Racing on their LMP3 campaign are partners Pinbet88, Motul, Redmount Group, and P1 Racewear.
Ate De Jong, PRT Racing Owner and Driver: “We’re making good progress in the Asian Le Mans Endurance Series and we hope to improve on our results this weekend. It’s going to be a challenge for me to learn a new circuit. This will also be the first time for Charlie and I to race the full four hours with just two drivers. These things will make the race weekend a lot more exciting for the whole team and I’m hoping we can be on the podium.”
Charlie Robertson, PRT Racing Driver: “I’m thrilled to be back in Asia at the start of the year driving for PRT Racing. The season so far has had its ups and downs, but we’ve always managed to pull through. The team’s Ginetta LMP3 has also proved to be very fast and reliable on every outing and we’ll be chasing after that podium this weekend.”
