Alberto, Macalinao keen to repeat PSBK success as series returns to BRC

It was only a month ago when Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto and Lawrence Macalinao kicked off the 2023 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) in the best way possible. The duo went on to score 2 pole positions and 4 class wins for Access Plus Racing. And as the season returns to the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) this weekend, they’ll be aiming to sweep the top steps of the podium once again.

Despite their dominant performance at the 3.500 km track, the team isn’t just letting their guards down. Access Plus Racing have been testing heavily over the last few weeks to further improve on their race pace. Setup changes to their pair of Ducati Panigale V4s have allowed them find gains at every turn, which should help both TJ and Lawrence confidently push at the front.

Round 2 of the 2023 Philippine Superbike Championship gets the green light this weekend from the 3rd to 4th of June at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC). Qualifying takes place on Saturday morning to determine the grids for Race 1 on Sunday morning and Race 2 in the afternoon.

TJ Alberto, #77: “Coming from a perfect season opener last month, our only wish is to get the same results as we return to BRC. We’re sure that the other teams would have made some steps forward to try to close the gap and we need to answer back with our own improvements. Looking forward to the races and hope to have fun on track.”

Lawrence Macalinao, #26: “We’ve been working hard to find a few more hundredths or even tenths here and there during testing. The team made some changes to my Panigale V4 S and hope it will translate to another good race weekend like the first round.”

Toti Alberto, Team Principal: “Our plan obviously is to repeat our results from Round 1 and win all the races. But it’s never as straightforward as just doing what we did last time. We always have to continue on improving at Access Plus Racing and never stop the learning process. The test we did over the week was very positive and I’m confident that both TJ and Lawrence will be at the front again in BRC.”

Access Plus Racing is sponsored by Ducati Philippines, Angkas, Shell Advance Motorcycle Oils, Frontrow, Makati Diamond Residences, Katinko Oil and Ointment, Macbeth, Aella, LV8 Elevate, Extreme Components, STM, and Öhlins Racing.
