Regarded at the biggest leisure karting event in the world, the Sodi World Series (SWS) is designed to find the quickest drivers from 38 countries. But this year, one more nation is being added to the list as City Kart Racing’s (CKR) track in Circuit Makati gets accreditation.
The series allows anyone to compete with international drivers on a level playing field, using rental karts, and let their skills shine. There’s no requirement to have a racing license to participate. You don’t even need your own overalls and helmet as the track will provide them for you. But you may if you do.
Drivers earn points at each SWS event and are then ranked by Track, Country, and The World.
As for City Kart Racing, they’re just 1 of the 201 partner tracks of SWS and they’ll hold the inaugural Sodi World Series at their track in Circuit Makati this November/December 2015. The calendar is comprised of Sprint Cup Races, a 2 Hour Endurance Race, and a 4 Hour Endurance Race spread out over 4 race days. Then, the winner in each category will get the chance to race in the Sodi World Finals with CKR sponsoring the registration fee.

Sprint Cup races are for individual drivers whereas the Endurance Cup are team events that have anywhere in between 2 to 8 drivers. There is also a Junior Cup category for youngsters aged 7 to 14 years old.
The race format, at least for the Sprint/Junior Cup, will have a 10 min Qualifying Session followed by Race 1 and Race 2. Sprint Cup races are 15 laps each, while the Junior Cup is a bit shorter at 12 laps. And in order to guarantee fairness, karts will be assigned by drawing of lots.
Registration fee for the first SWS event on November 21 is P4,500 for the Sprint Cup and P4,000 for the Junior Cup. However, early birds who pay on or before November 13 will get free practice on the Wednesday before the race.
