Hitech GP has built up quite a reputation in global single-seater championships with successful entires in Formula 3 and Formula 2. And for the upcoming 2022 season, they’re expanding their campaign into the ROKiT F4 British Championship with Eduardo Costeng.
The 18-year-old made his British F4 debut last year with Argenti Motorsport where he claimed 1 pole position, 1 podium finish, and 3 fastest laps in his maiden season. He also went on to score 2 Rookie wins and wrapped up the drivers’ championship 12th overall. Eduardo then had a single race outing in GB3 with Fortec Motorsport during the season finale at Donington Park before the year came to a close.
No reason has been given as to why Eduardo decided to switch teams, but he does has a bright future ahead with Hitech GP. This is the same squad that took Raoul Hyman and Ukyo Sasahara to win the Formula 3 Asian Championship titles in ’18 and ’19. Their graduates in Formula 2 also include the likes of Red Bull Junior drivers Liam Lawson and Juri Vips, as well as Haas Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin.
The British F4 Championship will adopt the new second-generation Tatuus T-421 chassis with a Halo-style safety device for 2022. But before the season begins in April, Hitech GP is now competing in the Formula 4 UAE Championship to gain crucial mileage with their new cars.
Eduardo will contest the full 10-event, 30-race season and is expected to be the lone Filipino entry as it was last year.
Eduardo Coseteng: “I am extremely grateful and excited to be joining Hitech in the upcoming 2022 British F4 season. I would like to thank everyone involved such as my sponsors Petron Corporation and Autoplus Sports Centre and of course my parents and my other supporters. I can’t wait to start the 2022 season especially with this great team behind me working together to reach extraordinary heights”
