Eurasia is entering an Aston Martin Vantage in Blancpain GT Series Asia

This is topic is a bit tricky. There are at least 2 GT championships happening in Asia this year. One calls itself the GT Asia Series that has been around since 2010. Then there’s the Blancpain GT Series Asia, which is new and will have races in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, and China on 6 occasions in 2017.

That’s where you’ll find Eurasia Motorsport with an Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

They’ll be running a single car entry as an Aston Martin Racing Partner Team, driven by James Cai and Kenneth Lim. And because of a new partnership with CMRT, the Philippine-based team is listed under the name CMRT Eurasia for this season.

“We are now really looking forward to the year in Blancpain Asia,” stated Lim. “It’s a step up but it’s something we have both wanted to do for a while now. It’s a good series to get involved with and we know it will be a good experience and a great challenge.”

Cai and Lim have raced together in the past. The Chinese-Malaysian pair finished 3rd overall in the 2015 GT Asia GTM Cup proving that they can win races together. They just happened to take a sabbatical in 2016 so they can prepare for the move up to GT3 this year.

As for Eurasia, these guys are no strangers to racing Aston Martins. They managed and ran similar cars in ’13 and ’14 with some success, so this outing looks very promising.

The 2017 Blancpain GT Series Asia gets underway on April 8/9 at the Sepang International Circuit and wraps up at the new Zhejiang Circuit in October.
