Toyota Racing School is now looking for future race car drivers

After hosting a rather-successful successful Vios Cup race last January, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has now decided to put up their own racing school in search of new talent. This is the new Toyota Racing School and it’s now open for enrollment.

The school is open for both beginners and experienced drivers, as long as they can drive stick. That’s because they’ll be trained in the race-prepped Vios Cup race cars, which only comes with a manual transmission. Underage participants can also sign up with proper consent and supervision from a guardian. Yes, ‘kids’ can legally race on a circuit and compete in motorsports even if they’re not old enough to get a driver’s license yet.

Students can then enroll in either the Basic or Advance Circuit Class, depending on their skill level.

The Basic Circuit Car Class provides an introduction to the techniques and skill application one needs to properly drive a race car around the track at speed. The 1-day class includes a classroom session, equipment orientation, and track familiarization where they’ll teach you how to brake, downshift, and lap with the racing line.

If you think that you’re already a pro in racing games, believe us when we say that you still have a long way to go. This is no game. This is the real deal.

The class schedules are on March 30, April 26, May 10, June 7, July 19, and September 10, 2014.

If, however, you’ve already taken up a ‘similar’ basic circuit training course or seriously want an in-depth racing experience, there’s the Advance Circuit Class. The lesson covers a race safety briefing, fast-paced lapping sessions, passing techniques, and race start procedures. Simply put, you should be ready to race in the Vios Cup after taking this class. Successful graduates will also receive a recommendation letter for a Racing License from the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).

Of course, both classes include lesson materials, safety equipment rental (helmet and racing suit), use of the Vios Race Car, track fees, snack and drinks, certificate, and a gift pack.

What’s odd though is that TMP has not published the tuition fees for either of the Toyota Racing School Classes. We’re guessing that you’ll just have to contact the Vios Cup Secretariat at 820-4203 loc 205 or email toyotaracingschool@gmail.com if you seriously want to learn how to race.
