Vincent Floirendo sports new livery for Thailand Super Series 2022

It’s great to hear that motorsports around the region is slowly, but surely going back to normal. One such event that’s now back in full swing is the Thailand Super Series (TSS) that will feature a very familiar name in this year’s driver lineup. We’re referring to local hero Vincent Floirendo who will be competing in a very patriotic Audi R8 LMS with B-Quik Absolute Racing.

This will be Vincent’s first full season in GT racing after a two-year absence brought about by the pandemic. This also happens to be his first attempt at the highly-competitive Thailand Super Series’ Super GT3 class.

He’s going to be reunited with his trusty Audi R8 LMS for the four-round championship, which has recently been upgraded by B-Quik Absolute Racing to the latest ‘EVO 2’ spec. It’s also sporting a fresh new livery that features the iconic colors of the Philippine flag including the eight-rayed golden sun. As each round features a long 60-minute race, he’ll be sharing driving duties with German GT ace Pierre Kaffer for at least the first two events of 2022.

Pierre brings with him a strong resume that include wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring plus a GT2 win at the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 45-year-old German is also no stranger working with B-Quik Racing, having assisted the team to set up its Audi R8 LMS and coach its drivers back in 2017.

Vincent has been racing in an Audi R8 LMS since 2016. His experiences has earned him 2nd in the Audi R8 LMS Cup Am Trophy back in 2017, podiums in GT Asia in 2018, and Challenger Trophy Champion on his return to the Audi R8 LMS Cup in 2019. This time though, he’ll be up against different machinery as the TSS 2022 season kicks off at the end of this month at the Bangsaen Street Circuit. The championship then moves to the Buriram International Circuit for Rounds 2, 3, and 4 in August, October, and December.

2022 Thailand Super Series Calendar
Round 1 | June 29 – July 1 (Bangsaen Street Circuit, Thailand)
Round 2 | August 25-28 (Buriram International Circuit, Thailand)
Round 3 | October 27-30 (Buriram International Circuit, Thailand)
Round 4 | December 8-11 (Buriram International Circuit, Thailand)

Vincent Floriendo: “It has been a long time since my last race. I am really happy to be back in the race family after a two-year sabbatical due to the pandemic. I know it will be challenging because Thailand Super Series is one of Asia’s most competitive GT series, but my objective will be to find the rhythm while trying to use my experience to keep improving in every session. I am really looking forward to meet Pierre and the rest of the B-Quik Absolute Racing crew”.

Ingo Matter, Absolute Racing Team Director: “The whole team and myself are really happy to welcome Vincent back after such a long time. It also marks the reunion of our group of Filipino mechanics who are finally able to travel and join us on our endeavor. We are happy to have the support from Audi Sport to get access to an ‘Audi Legend’ like Pierre Kaffer. We expect the car to be on pace, and all our cars to benefit from his experience.”
