Second victory for Daryl DeLeon Taylor in Radical SR1 Cup at Brands Hatch GP

Valour Racing driver Daryl DeLeon Taylor continued his winning ways in the Radical SR1 Cup when the series visited the Brands Hatch GP circuit for Round 2 of the 2022 calendar. Sans a mechanical issue that prevented him from winning the second race, the Filipino-British driver was dominant all weekend. He claimed pole position and set the fastest lap in both races, while taking victory in Race 1 by a wide margin.

The white-and-gold #2 Radical SR1 was again the fastest machine in its class during testing. Daryl consistently improved on his lap times at every session, which went on until QTT1 on Saturday. His persistence would earn him Pole Position by setting a 1:30.650 lap – 0.861 secs clear of his nearest rival.

Daryl delivered a perfect lights-to-flag victory in Race 1. He lead from the first corner and never looked back. His lead would grow to a massive 7.959 secs by the time he crossed the finish line, while setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.

It would have easily been a repeat victory in Race 2 on Sunday. Daryl was again in the lead by quite a margin when the water pump failed with only 2 laps to go. This forced him into retirement, but was still classified in 10th and set the fastest lap to earn him valuable points towards the championship.

After the first 2 events of the season, Daryl DeLeon Taylor now sits 2nd overall in the championship – just 18 points shy of the leader. He’ll be hoping for a trouble-free run when the season resumes on the 25th/26th of June at Snetterton and secure both race wins.

Daryl DeLeon Taylor: “I think Round 2 went great. It felt amazing to be able to show off how much pace we have, which we can carry into the next rounds. There were many positives from the weekend – constantly running at the front but also showing that I am able to keep composure when put under pressure. I am looking forward to the next round at Snetterton as I know that Valour Racing and I can repeat our win at Brands Hatch GP. I would just like to say a massive thanks to Valour Racing and Bobby Thompson for the amazing job and I would also like to thank my sponsors and Parents for this opportunity.“
