Porsche still the most 'APEAL-ing' brand says J.D. Power

With a score 874 points, Porsche has somehow managed to top J.D. Power’s ‘Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout’ (APEAL) study for the 11th consecutive time. Not only that, but 3 of their models have also ranked highest in their respective segments.

Trailing the German brand in the rankings are Jaguar (855), BMW (854), Mercedes-Benz (853), and Audi (852). As for the specifics, the Porsche Cayman took the ‘Highest Ranked Apeal’ award in the ‘Compact Premium Sporty Car’ category. The Porsche Cayenne, on the other hand, won in the ‘Midsize Premium SUV’ segment for the 5th time in a row. Finally, their latest entry – the Porsche Macan – topped the ranking in the ‘Compact Premium SUV’ segment.

Not bad Germans!

In case you need a refresher, the APEAL study is a measure of customer satisfaction with their new vehicles. It rates factors such as driving performance, design, comfort, and suitability for everyday use on a 1,000-point scale. Do note, however, that this score is based on around 84,000 new car owners from North America.

So how does this relate to us humans in Asia? Well, if those very discerning and judgmental Americans think that Porsche is No. 1, well maybe so should we.
