The annual national student art competition Vision Petron is back on its 16th year and it’s now open for entries.
As always, it’s Petron Corporation’s way of nurturing young Filipino artists and supporting Philippine culture. But what’s new is that Vision Petron is embarking on a new 5-year series that focuses on ‘Tuklas’ (or rediscovery). And the first theme is ‘Tuklas Kapaligiran: Rediscovering the Best Feature of Our Surroundings’.
It aims to highlight the country’s best and most unique features, such as our lush landscapes, underwater gardens, and rich biodiversity. Or it could also be about our cultures and living traditions.
It’s open to all Filipino college students (or students of a tutorial class) aged 16 to 28 years old. Entries can be submitted in four (4) categories. There’s the staple favorites Painting (oil/acrylic), Painting (water-based), Photography, and Video-making. But T-shirt Art Design has now been replaced by Music or Song-writing.
The pieces of art will be judged by a panel of esteemed experts. Meanwhile, the winners will receive cash prizes, their works featured in Petron marketing collaterals, and have their art exhibited at the CCP Theater Main Lobby. And for cases of Provincial winners, they and a parent/school representative will be flown in to Manila for the awarding ceremonies.
The deadline for submission is on July 22, 2016 at Petron bulk plants nationwide or until July 29 at the Petron Pandacan sales office. Due to the adjustment in school openings, those who will start classes in August but were already enrolled in May are still eligible to join.
