Iñigo Anton captures Super Sprint championship in dominant fashion

Coming off a clean sweep at the 2nd round of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup, Iñigo Anton maintains his winning ways, this time in autocross. He showcased his talent at the final round of the 2024 ENEOS Super Sprint series at Parklinks in Quezon City to take the class championship.

The 20-year-old unfortunately had to miss several rounds due to racing commitments abroad. Despite this, he collected enough points throughout the season to come to the finale still in the lead.

Iñigo competed in the Race Prepped class, driving the blue-liveried Cars Unlimited Honda Civic EG by Mark Young Racing-MRD Team. Equipped with Yokohama ADVAN A052 tires and Motul fully-synthetic racing oil, he topped the time tables in the B3, C3, and D3 classes that day.

His blistering 56.102 secs run in B3 was 2.576 secs faster than his closest rival, which would allow him to take both the class victory and class championship. Adding to that, it also earned him the Best Overall Time of the entire event.

Continuing this run of form, Iñigo again set the fastest time in Prepped C3 with a 58.490 secs run. This performance put him 1.861 secs ahead of teammate and closest rival Marky Young to take the C3 crown.

Finally, Iñigo’s closest challenge came in Prepped D3 as he only had a 2-point lead coming into the season ender. Rising to the occasion, he clocked in another fastest time with a 57.850 secs run, earning Iñigo his 3rd Super Sprint class title in 2024.

His team, Mark Young Racing, also had more reasons to celebrate that weekend. Making it a truly family affair siblings Rich and Marky, with cousin Marcus Young also dominated their respective Super Sprint classes with consistent podium finishes. Meanwhile, his younger brother Alonzo Anton also followed the family tradition and entered motorsport at the same age Iñigo started. With dad Carlos coaching from the passenger seat, the 12-year-old is beginning to prove himself behind the wheel and giving older, more experienced racers a run for their money.

Iñigo Anton: “It has been a fantastic season for us in Super Sprint. I joined in February and March to prepare for the International Gymkhana in Taiwan, where I clinched 2 podiums. I believe this is the perfect season for me. We didn’t lose a single race in this championship, achieving 12x 1st place finishes and 4x Best Time of the Day awards.”

Iñigo Anton is sponsored by Motul Philippine Distributor – Infiniteserv Int’l, Yokohama Philippines, Mark Young Racing, JSD Autosport, Blue Coffee, Next Level Racing, Alpinestars Philippines, Time Master Watches, MP Turbo Philippines, Mohspeed, Axle Sports, and University of Baguio.
