Axel Nocom was one of the brightest Filipino talents last year, bringing prestige to the country as he raced overseas. He shuffled between continents, splitting his time between several top-tier international championships in hopes of making it big in motorsports one day. And en route becoming a future racing star, he has laid out an even busier calendar in 2025.
He made a surprise switch to Junior Class last year and jumped straight into the deep end of the pool by entering the Champions of the Future Academy (COTFA). Axel also had successful stints in the UAE Rotax Max Challenge, represented the Philippines in the FIA Motorsport Games in Spain, and secured 3rd in the T4 Nations Cup in Valencia. But his most memorable achievement of 2024 was to lead a race at the COTFA finale in Abu Dhabi, competing alongside Junior F1 drivers.
Now 13-years-old, Axel will have bigger goals for 2025.

His year kicks off this February 7/9 at the Yas Marina Circuit for the UAE Rotax Max Challenge. He also has confirmed a second full season in COTFA where he hopes to pick up where he had left off—fighting at the front. The 6-round calendar kicks off in Portugal at the end of February and will take Axel to circuits in Spain, Italy, Hungary, Qatar, to end the championship in the UAE in December.
Then, he’ll squeeze in several appearances in GPR Karting Series in Japan. He’ll be testing at Suzuka Circuit in March in preparation for the opening round in May. However, it’s still unconfirmed whether he can make it to the other race weekends in the calendar.
His biggest race of the year will be the FIA Karting World Cup where he takes on some of the best karters in the world in OK-N Junior. Axel is scheduled to race at the Kartodromo Cremona Circuit in Italy on September 25/28.
If 2024 was a learning year, then 2025 will be all about results. Axel will need to consistently finish in the Top 10, with some podium finishes or even race wins, if he has hopes of being picked up as a Junior F1 Team driver.
