The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup returns for its 12th year running in 2026 with several major changes, including new race venues and the debut of an all-new race car platform. Headlining the upcoming season is the introduction of the Tamaraw OMR, which joins the familiar Vios OMR in Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) premier one-make racing series.
The season will kick off on March 13/15 at Riverpark in General Trias, Cavite, where drivers will race on a 2.4 km non-permanent street circuit. Another notable addition is the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) for Round 3, marking the first time the championship will race at the venue since the series began in 2014. Clark International Speedway (CIS) continues to be a staple on the calendar and will host Rounds 2 and 4.
2026 TGR Philippine Cup Calendar
Round 1 | March 13-15 (Riverpark Street Circuit, Cavite)
Round 2 | July 9-11 (Clark International Speedway)
Round 3 | August 13-15 (Batangas Racing Circuit)
Round 4 | September 10-12 (Clark International Speedway)
On the competition side, the Super Sporting and Sporting Class grids have both shrunk for 2026 with 6 and 8 entries, respectively. At least for the opening round, each class will run its own race. This may not be a major concern on the narrow Riverpark street circuit, but it will be interesting to see how the action unfolds once the championship returns to the wider permanent circuits later in the season.
One of the biggest names in the Super Sporting Class is Philippine racing legend Mike Potenciano, who will drive for Dunamis – MP Turbo – Toyota Quezon Avenue.
Meanwhile, the Sporting Class will see several young drivers stepping up from karting and other junior racing categories. Among them are Joshua Marquez, Bern Zaragoza, Paul Base, and Luigi Co, the nephew of Super Sporting Class driver Bryan Co.
The Legacy Class, featuring the older first-generation Vios OMR race cars, will also see new additions this season. Lady driver Gabie Desales will represent Gel Napat Racing – R Racing, while Gabriel Matias joins the grid under Team Pertua.
The biggest headline for 2026, however, is the arrival of the Tamaraw OMR. The new platform will compete in its own Tamaraw Racing Class and has attracted a healthy grid of 16 entries for its debut season. The field features a mix of new racers and familiar faces from across the TGR Philippine Cup paddock.
Former champion Iñigo Anton and Dominique Ochoa are among the notable names joining the grid, while Alain Alzona will be pulling double duty as the only driver competing in both the Super Sporting Class and the Tamaraw Racing Class.
