Fresh off winning the MEC120 Pro-Am Championship in Japan, Filipino driver Danzel Waytan is set to take the next step up the motorsport ladder after confirming his entry in the 2026 F110 Cup with KF Motorsport.
The F110 Cup serves as an entry-level formula series in Japan and uses the Dome F110 platform, which was previously used in the FIA F4 Japanese Championship until 2023. Designed as a cost-effective development category, the one-make series provides an opportunity for junior drivers aged 15 to 18 years old to gain valuable experience before progressing to higher formula categories.
For the upcoming season, Danzel will race with KF Motorsport. The team is based in Gotemba, Japan and was founded and is managed by Super GT champion Kiyoto Fujinami, who currently competes for Seven x Seven Racing. The team focuses on developing young talent through karting and junior formula programs.
The 18-year-old earned his seat with the team following a test session in December, held shortly after he clinched the MEC120 championship. Fujinami personally selected six drivers to participate in the test, with Waytan standing out as the only foreign driver invited.
Following the evaluation, he was chosen as one of three drivers to represent the team in 2026 alongside Yuzuki Sato and Yuto Nakai.
The 2026 F110 Cup season will consist of three rounds, each featuring two races across the weekend. Danzel will make his debut during the season opener at Mobility Resort Motegi this weekend.
