17-year-old Gabby Matias is set to contest his first full season in the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup in 2026, competing in the Legacy Class under Pertua Racing. The campaign builds on the momentum of his impressive first race appearance last year.
Gabby first entered the national racing scene during last year’s 1NZ Cup endurance race. Driving solo for the entire 120-minute contest, he showed strong pace and composure to finish 5th in class, gaining valuable experience managing both the physical and technical demands of endurance racing.
For the 2026 season, Gabby will enter the Legacy Class, which features the first-generation Toyota Vios OMR race cars. His campaign will be run with the support of Precision Speed Racing, which oversees his preparation and driver development.
The TGR Philippine Cup will bring Gabby to several racing venues across the country. The curtain-raiser on March 13/15 will serve as his first major test as he takes on the challenging 2.4 km non-permanent street circuit at Riverpark in General Trias, Cavite. Succeeding rounds will then take place at Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) and Clark International Speedway in July, August, and September.
Supporting Gabby throughout the campaign is Pertua Racing, which continues to use motorsport as a proving ground for its lubrication technologies. His race car will run on Pertua Fully Synthetic Oil together with Pertua Oil & Metal Treatment (POMT), a combination designed to protect engines operating under the intense heat, high RPM, and sustained load typical of racing environments.
Powered by Pertua’s DuraSyn Technology, the formulation is engineered to reduce friction, resist oxidation, and maintain lubrication stability under extreme conditions. In motorsport, where engines operate at their limits for extended periods, effective lubrication plays a crucial role in preserving engine performance and reliability.
Drivers will take part in Qualifying on Saturday, which determines the starting grid for Race 1 later that day, followed by Race 2 on Sunday. As Gabby prepares for his first full season in the series, his partnership with Pertua Racing also highlights the role of locally developed technology in supporting competitive motorsport.
Gabby Matias: “Joining the Legacy Class of the TGR Philippine Cup is an exciting step forward after my competitive debut last year in the 1NZ Cup. It’s a great opportunity to continue learning and racing alongside more experienced drivers on such a proven platform.
I’m grateful for the support of the partners who are part of this journey. I’d like to thank Pertua Racing for their continued backing, as well as Precision Speed Racing for their guidance and training. My goal is to keep improving every race weekend and represent them well on track.”
Kristine Simon, Pertua Marketing Strategy and Communications Manager:: “At Pertua, we believe in supporting individuals who demonstrate passion, discipline, and the drive to continuously improve—qualities that are deeply rooted in motorsports. Gabby’s journey from competing in the 1NZ Cup in 2025 to joining the Legacy Class of the TGR Philippine Cup reflects the dedication and commitment needed to grow in this demanding sport.
Through Pertua Racing, we aim to support racers who embody the spirit of performance and resilience both on and off the track. Gabby represents these values well, and we are proud to stand behind him as he continues to develop his skills and take on new challenges in his racing career.
We also recognize the importance of training and mentorship in developing the next generation of racers. We appreciate the role of Precision Speed Racing in preparing Gabby for competitive racing, and we look forward to supporting his continued progress in the seasons ahead.”
