After concluding the 2024 season as Sporting Class vice champion, Jarond Mesina is now set to take on the fastest drivers in the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup as he moves up to the Super Sporting Class. Joining him in his fight for the 2025 championship is the newly established ERA Autosport in collaboration with Jarond’s own outfit Dash Racing.
The former karter made his TGR Philippine Cup debut midway through the 2022 season, driving for Toyota Team Cebu (TTC). He made a strong first impression in the Promotional Class, securing a podium finish in his first outing. Jarond then led a dream 1-2-3 finish for the team during the season finale.
Returning for another year in the Promotional Class, he dominated the 2023 season opener with 2x race victories and a 2nd place finish, taking an early championship lead. He continued his strong run, adding more wins and podiums in the succeeding round. However, a DNF in the finale cost him the title and finished the season as Vice Champion with 5 wins and 8 podiums.
This automatically promoted him to the Sporting Class in 2024, where he immediately emerged as a front-runner. Jarond started the season strong with 2x 2nd-place finishes at the opener and remained a title contender throughout the year. A strong campaign saw him collect enough points to finish 3rd in the championship, earning him a spot on the Super Sporting Class grid this year.
For 2025, the 22-year-old is teaming up with ERA Autosport, founded by champion driver Milo Rivera. The squad made its competitive debut in 2024 with a 2-car entry in the Formula V1 Challenge. Despite being newcomers, the team quickly proved its worth on track, claiming the championship with Cebuano driver Jesse Garcia.
Together with Team Manager Carlo Anton Suarez, they are collaborating with Dash Racing to provide motorsport services plus coaching from Milo himself. Their goal is to replicate this success with Jarond as they take on the Super Sporting Class when the season kicks off this weekend.
