Zach David readies for Formula Regional Middle East and Europe

Zachary ‘Zach’ David taking a step up the motorsports ladder as he confirms plans to enter both Formula Regional Middle East and Formula Regional European Championships for 2024. With 15 events that stretches from January ’til October, it will be a very busy year ahead for the young Filipino as he fights for glory.

Zach enjoyed a milestone-filled rookie year in single-seaters in 2023. He debuted in the 2023 Formula 4 UAE Championship and scored his very first race victory at Kuwait Motor Town on only the 2nd round of the season. The 16-year-old then went on to secure multiple wins and podiums in the Rookies category to finish 5th in class.

Heading back to Europe, Zach entered the final event of the Formula Winter Series in Europe where he secured 2 victories at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain. This served as a warm up ahead of his full season in the Italian F4 Championship that saw him race against a packed 30+ car grid that included several F1 junior drivers. Despite the stiff competition, he delivered strong performances and finished on the podium on 4 occasions. Zach was also a consistent winner and podium finisher in the Rookies division where he wrapped up the season 3rd in the class championship. Capping off his already busy year, Zach contested all 3 rounds of the inaugural Euro 4 Championship with a best 4th place finish at Monza.

New challenges awaits Zach this 2024 as he contends with a much faster car, a longer championship calendar, and more demanding circuits. He participated in several post-season tests in 2023 in preparation for the upcoming season, which begins this 12/14 January for the season opener of the Formula Regional Middle East Championship. The condensed 5 round calendar will see Zach race over 6 weekends with 3 rounds taking place at the Yas Marina Circuit in the UAE and 2 at the Dubai Autodrome including the finale on the 18th of February.

Zach will then head back to Europe for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA). The series will stage all 10 rounds on F1 circuits with a calendar that stretches from May until October, which includes historic tracks such as Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Circuit Paul Ricard in France, and Imola Circuit in Italy.

The team Zach will race under will be confirmed at a later date.

Zach David: “My goal for the 2024 season is to be in contention for the championship, even better if I could win it. But I don’t really like to think about it this early. The most important thing is that I find my rhythm quickly, keep building on what I already have, and take the necessary steps to advance. I’m confident that I will be there in the mix for the championship. It makes me proud to race the Philippine flag and it feels even better with all the support from back home.”
