Motorsport Development Program announces 2018 training and gymkhana schedule

Over the past 3 years, the Motorsport Development Program (MSDP) has successfully trained numerous young new talent to become successful racing drivers. And this 2018, they’re searching for more aspirants at select locations nationwide.

The Automobile Association Philippines’ (AAP) grassroots motorsports training program is geared towards novice drivers. It covers topics such as driving technique, safety, vehicle dynamics, physical and mental fitness, and race car preparation through modules. Each of the 9 modules consists of a classroom lecture and practical hands-on training taught by 10-time National Rally Champion Vip Isada and his team of experienced instructors.

Aside from the training modules, the MSDP Gymkhana Series will also come back for its second season. It follows the Asian Auto Gymkhana format, showing participants how racing is done in the Asia Pacific region. There will be 4 legs per location. The top drivers per stop will then be invited to the Gymkhana Finals in Manila at the end of the year.

The MDSP will hold training modules and gymkhana races together on 2-day weekend events. They’ll visit Manila, Iloilo, Cebu, Dagupan, Cagayan De Oro, Tagum, Davao, and Bacolod throughout the year for a total of 27 events in 2018. And the kick-off leg will be held this February 24 at Megaworld Manduriao, Iloilo City.

Registration is free for drivers aged 15 to 19 years old. All they need to bring are a valid Philippine Driver’s License, letter of consent from their parent/guardian, and signed and notarized wavier. The events are also open to more senior participants for a minimal fee of P2,500.
