Although the Ducati Philippines factory team wasn’t able to repeat the perfect weekend during their last visit to the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC), its riders ensured that the Italian marque had more than enough reasons to celebrate. They would take home a fine collection of trophies from Round 2 of the Pirelli Cup held in early June.
Justin Guce and Jan Timbol once again headed the pack in the Super A Class with their Panigale V4. Guce secured a 2nd and 3rd place finish in Races 1 and 2, then switching positions with Timbol who finished 3rd and 2nd.
“With the new bike and set up, it was one heck of a challenge. But after proper adjustments were made from the previous round, I now feel more comfortable with my bike compared,” shared Jan Timbol. “Hopefully I can continue to adapt accordingly and with the continuous support from my team, I look forward to perform better and defend my title as the Super A Champion.”
It was good to see Alvin Pullon get the most out of his Panigale V4 S in the Heavyweight B Class. “The second leg was very challenging as the other riders also stepped up their game in BRC. I needed to work even harder to lower my lap times and fix my lines,” Pullon commented his experience.
He improved on his results from the previous round and secured pole in class during Qualifying as well as two race wins to add to Ducati Philippines’ tally. He shared, “I couldn’t have won without the help of GP Boys founder Lawrence Macalinao who always finds time to help me even if he races on the same weekend, Ducati Philippines for their continued support, and coach Tofu Guzman. Forza Ducati!”
Next across the finish line were Ric Cruz and Pong Lacson who were competing in the Naked Class. Cruz and his Streetfighter V4 S once again won both races, earning him a four-race winning streak since the season start. Lacson and his Hypermotard SP followed behind to complete a 1-2 podium for Ducati.
Rounding up the Italian marque’s collection of trophies from the weekend was Jade Regalario. The reigning Ducati Cup Sportsbike Sub1000 champion was the squad’s lone entry in the Rookie Class and delivered a race win on a Panigale V4.
Ducati Philippines leaves behind good memories after two very successful race weekends at Batangas. All its riders now prepare for the next event as the PSBK and Pirelli Cup heads to the Clark International Speedway (CIS) on the 8th and 9th of July.
