Axel Nocom secures seat in All Japan EV Kart Championship

Axel Nocom continues to expand his international racing program after being selected to compete in the All Japan Kart Championship EV Division following a driver draft held last March 1/–20 at City Circuit Tokyo Bay.

The 14-year-old Filipino was among 18 drivers from different nationalities and age groups who took part in the selection process. They competed using the EVK-22 kart developed by TOM’S Racing, with machinery supplied by Blue Shock Race. Built on a CRG chassis with front brakes and powered by a BSR X5 battery paired with a 44 hp electric motor, the package delivers performance comparable to a traditional shifter kart in both speed and torque.

Participants were evaluated based on their on-track performance and past achievements, with Axel ultimately earning a place among the 12 drivers selected.

That means he is now set to compete in the EV Division of the All Japan Kart Championship, which will feature four rounds with two races per event starting in May. Beyond the competition itself, the championship also offers a pathway to higher levels of motorsport, with the overall champion earning a prize drive in single-seater machinery.

Details regarding Axel’s team will be announced at a later date.

His selection comes at a time when the global motorsport landscape is increasingly embracing sustainable technologies. With an ongoing fuel crisis, that has also prompted the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) to halt sanctioned motorsport events locally, competing in an EV-based championship overseas provides both continuity and a forward-looking direction for his racing program.

Axel Nocom is supported by Mercedes Driver Development, Deseño MNL, Recaro Philippines, Ceramic Pro Philippines, DRIFT XAUST, DRIFT MOTOR Speedway, Ekartraceway, Kart Republic, Oasis Tech HK, Dri Plus Ph, Simagic, Apex Racing Philippines, Monza Barcade, Pregame Motorsport Merchandise, and DG Budget Hotel.
