Despite suffering a DNF in Race 1, Gabby Matias made a strong recovery to finish 2nd in Race 2, capping off his first full season in the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup with a podium finish in the Legacy Class.
Driving the #29 Pertua Racing Toyota Vios OMR, the 18-year-old returned to competition for the season finale at Clark International Speedway (CIS) on October 23/24, having missed Round 2 last July due to prior commitments. The weekend provided another opportunity for Gabby to put his training with Precision Speed Racing into practice, while also testing Pertua’s Fully Synthetic Oil with DuraSyn Technology under race conditions.
The weekend also served as a testing opportunity for Primetech Oil, Inc., the company behind Pertua and Green Oil. The team used Gabby’s race car to conduct a field test of its upcoming Green Oil Emission Treatment Solution (ETS) & Fuel Saver, a new product developed with fuel efficiency in mind.
Preliminary results from the test recorded approximately 49.35% lower fuel consumption per kilometre with ETS under specific test conditions. While the findings suggest promising fuel-saving potential, further testing is needed to establish its effectiveness across different applications. Actual results may vary depending on vehicle condition, driving habits, and operating conditions.
Qualifying saw Gabby set a 2:29.939 lap around CIS, securing P3 in the Legacy Class just behind Gabie Desales in P2. With the Sporting and Super Sporting Class drivers also sharing the track, the 17-car combined grid presented an additional challenge as he prepared to battle for position.
Gabby made a strong getaway in Race 1 and immediately set his sights on Desales ahead. He gradually closed the gap and attempted an overtake, but made contact and resulted in a puncture to his left rear tyre. This forced him to retire and miss out on a potential podium finish.
The setback meant Gabby would start Race 2 from dead last. Having learned from his mistake, he took a more measured approach while attempting to recover lost ground. He timed his overtakes carefully and made two clean passes, eventually climbing to 2nd place in the Legacy Class to secure a well-deserved podium finish.
“Gabby’s 2nd-place finish reflects his resilience and growth as a racer. After retiring from Race 1, he fought back from last on the grid to secure a well-deserved podium finish. At Primetech Oil, Inc., we proudly support Gabby through the Pertua Racing Team as he continues to pursue racing excellence.,” commented Diane Kristine Simon, Marketing Strategy and Communications Manager of Primetech Oil, Inc.

Gabby Matias: “This podium finish means a lot to me because of how the race weekend unfolded. Recovering from an early retirement in Race 1 and fighting my way to 2nd place in Race 2 showed me how much I’ve grown as a driver and where I can still improve. I’m thankful to Precision Speed Racing for their dedicated coaching and training, and to Adsolute Advertising Inc. and Oliver Autoworx for their sponsorship and support. I’m also proud to represent Primetech Oil, Inc. and its brands, Pertua and Green Oil. With Pertua championing dependable engine performance and Green Oil advancing fuel efficiency through innovation, both brands share an important connection with motorsports, where every detail matters and every advantage counts.”
