Access Plus Racing in full force for 2023 PSBK title decider at CIS

With only a 3 point lead in the standings, Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto, Lawrence Macalinao, and Access Plus Racing are bracing for an epic title showdown when the Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) hosts its season ender this weekend. And to spice things up a notch, the team is fielding a 3rd wildcard entry with Troy Alberto joining in the fray.

Debuting the latest 2023-spec Panigale V4 R and V4 S, both Ducati riders were dominant all year. TJ and Lawrence shares 12 race wins and 8 podium finishes between them in the Pro and Expert categories. Riding the #26 Panigale V4 S, Lawrence even managed to land on the Pro class podium on 2 occasions. Although small but costly errors and unexpected technical issues prevented them from running away with the championship, the team is proud of successfully finishing all the races this year and consistently within the top 3 positions.

Both riders hold onto a slim 3 point lead in their respective classes, leaving them no room for error at the season finale this October 14/15. But the 4.189 km in Pampanga has always been Access Plus Racing’s strongest suit and the team has never finished lower than 1st place on this track in 2023.

Meanwhile, Troy Alberto is taking the opportunity to join Access Plus Racing now that his WorldSSP300 2023 campaign has come to a close. The experience gained and lessons learned from racing a full season overseas will be a valuable asset to the team as he rides a Panigale V4 R alongside his older brother in the Pro class. Troy last joined the PSBK grid back in 2021 and is looking forward an enjoyable race weekend.

The Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) will host its title decider at the Clark International Speedway this weekend. Qualifying will take place on Saturday (October 14) followed by Race 1 and 2 on Sunday (October 15) where the 2023 champions will be crowned.

Toti Alberto, Team Principal: “The 2023 season has really been a learning experience for Access Plus Racing with our new Ducatis and happy how TJ and Lawrence performed on track. There has been no major issues this year and we’ve been consistent in every race. We’re praying for a safe race, that both our riders do their best, and our machineries run at their utmost capabilities and will leave the championship up to God. I’m also happy that Troy is joining us this weekend and want to see how he performs on home soil after a year competing abroad.”

Access Plus Racing is sponsored by Ducati Philippines, Angkas, Shell Advance Motorcycle Oils, ArmyNavy Burger + Burrito, Frontrow, Makati Diamond Residences, Katinko Oil and Ointment, Macbeth, Aella, LV8 Elevate, Extreme Components, STM, and Öhlins Racing.
