Daryl DeLeon back for a 2nd season in BTCC with Team HARD

It’s going to be an exciting season ahead Daryl DeLeon after confirming that he’ll be back on the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) grid for a 2nd year running. The Filipino-British driver is set to compete the full 10-round calendar as he’s reunited with Team HARD Racing which gave him his BTCC debut last year.

Daryl became the youngest and only Filipino driver in BTCC when he joined Team HARD Racing midway through the 2023 season. He went on to deliver a best 18th place finish on his first weekend at Croft Circuit, which was an impressive performance for a rookie who only participated in a single official test before his maiden race. His first-ever points scored in the series would come at the penultimate round where he finished 14th in tricky weather conditions at Silverstone. And concluding his debut season on a high note, Daryl recorded his best result in BTCC during the finale at Brands Hatch to cross the finish line in 12th.

Now at 18-year-old, Daryl will once again drive a Cupra León BTCC. What’s new for 2024, however, is that Team HARD Racing is only campaigning a 2-car entry instead of the massive 6-car operations they ran last year. This should allow the Kent-based squad to dedicate more resources to Daryl and his would-be teammate. It’s also going to be his first full season in the BTCC, which stretches from the curtain raiser in April at Donington Park ’til the season ender in October at Brands Hatch GP. With each event hosting 3 races per weekend, Daryl will have a busy year ahead as he fights for points in 30 individual races.

Daryl DeLeon Taylor: “It hasn’t been easy to put the pieces together and I want to express my appreciation to everyone who has made this opportunity possible. Without the support from my sponsors, the team, my family and Tony, I don’t think I would have been able to make it happen. I know Team HARD. faced many challenges last year, but as a driver I am confident that the 2car operation will provide a competitive package and we will show the potential and focus throughout the season that the six-car operation struggled with. I have no doubt that the BTCC is the most demanding and competitive championship in the country and that’s exactly the reason I worked hard to get on the grid. Again, I would like to thank the fans and the people that have supported and continue to support me. Roll on 2024!”
