Besting a group of 24 talents from around the Asia Pacific and Oceania region, the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) has now named William Go as 1 of only 2 drivers selected to go to the World Scouting Finals in Maranello, Italy.
The 15-year-old driver from the Philippines took part in an intensive 3-day selection program at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia back in September. There he got behind the wheel of a latest generation Formula 4 car and impressed not only with his performance on track session after session, but also on how he interacted with the engineers.
Enzo Yeh from Taiwan is other driver who will join William in Italy later this month.
If the FDA World Scouting Finals hasn’t changed for 2023, then we should see William and 5 other finalists undergo a 5-day program at the Ferrari HQ in Maranello. Happening from the 24th to 28th of October, he will be evaluated in a series of tests to assess his physical ability, as well as his attitude and mental suitability to life as a professional racing driver. William will also get to drive a Formula 4 car around Ferrari’s private test track at Fiorano.
Of the 6 finalists, only 1 candidate will be selected to join the Ferrari Driver Academy program full-time and begin a very ambitious career path racing with the Prancing Horse. Several FDA drivers eventually made it into Formula 1 such as Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll, Guanyu Zhou, Mick Schumacher, and Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.
