Pampanga International Circuit marks grand opening with Rotax Invitational & 12 Hr Enduro

Having invested the last 2 years designing and building a brand new world-class karting track, the newly-opened Pampanga International Circuit is finally ready for its grand opening this weekend. And to mark the special occasion, they’re hosting back-to-back events with the Rotax Philippines Invitational on Friday followed by the 12 Hour SWS Endurance Race on Saturday.

The state-of-the-art facility is located within the SandBox adventure park in Porac, Pampanga. Some clever design work allows the circuit to have 5 different layouts with the longest configuration stretching to 1.400 km start-to-finish. Otherwise known as ‘City Kart Racing Pampanga’, it also carries rights to organizing 18 races of the Sodi World Series (SWS) and 4 races for the Rotax Max Challenge, which happens to be 2 of the biggest karting championships in the world.

Certification requirements have already been submitted to the corresponding local authorities with the CIK-FIA homologation expected to come very soon.

Open to both local and overseas drivers, the Rotax Philippines Invitational takes place between November 29 to 30. The national club event will see some of the best teams from Australia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and the Philippines compete in 4 different categories.

Micromax is open to 7 to 11 year olds, Junior for 12 to 15 year olds, Senior for 16 years and above, and the newly-introduced DD2 class. Featuring a 32 hp engine with a 2-speed chainless drive system, DD2 will become a new category in the country to be demonstrated by 5-time world champion Bas Lammers at the event.

Winners in each class gets an invite to the Rotax ASEAN Race at the Nanning International Karting Track in China on May 2020. This is inclusive of the entry fee, fuel/oil, supplied kart and engine, and hotel accommodations.

Once the sun sets on Saturday, the track then shifts to the 12 Hour SWS Endurance Race. Here teams of 3 to 10 drivers each will compete round-the-clock in the Junior, Senior, and Corporate Media categories. 13 teams from Australia, China, Korea, Japan, as well as an ‘all girls team’ have confirmed their entries so far with more expected to show up come race day.

The enduro will get the green light at exactly 10:00 PM on Saturday, run non-stop until 10:00AM on Sunday, and whichever team covers the most distance over a period of 12 hours wins.

The event is organised by Ehpaf Racing Management, supported by Rotax, KRS Motorsport, and Sodi.
