GT Radial x 4 Oras ng Pilipinas is the new bite-sized Philippine Endurance Challenge

The 8 Hour Philippine Endurance Challenge (PEC) is currently the country’s longest endurance race. 29 cars took part last year, 27 of which made if to the finish line, and the winning team covered 176 laps in 480 minutes.

It’s an epic feat of endurance for both man and machine. A huge task for experienced drivers, even more so for first timers. That’s why its organizers decided to create a more compact, bite-sized version to act as a ‘warm up’ if you will for the full-on 8-hour race in November.

This is the GT Radial x 4 Oras ng Pilipinas.

Running only half the race distance, each team must have between 2 to 6 drivers who will compete 240 minutes non-stop. There will still be pit stops, safety car periods, and re-fueling much like the longer 8 Hour PEC. And because all must run GT Radial SX2 tires, which easily last the whole race, there will be no need for tire changes. But despite the shorter run time, endurance is still the name of the game.

A team may opt to enter in any of the 4 categories. The RP Class is for full-blown race cars and are usually the fastest machines on the grid. Slightly modified street cars, on the other hand, join the FM-1 or FM-2 Class divided according to horsepower. Lastly, the Manufacturer’s Cup is exclusive for stock vehicles with no modifications except for safety equipment.

As with all endurance races, the team that covers the most number of laps after 4 hours wins. Awards will then be given to the Top 3 finishers in each class and the Top 3 teams competing for team points.
